Abstract

This study looks for cognitive style characterized by mental obscurantism, and began searching the idea of disclosure of this concept and its components and the extent of the presence of this type of cognitive styles among university students because few Arab studies in this field.
This study aimed to identify the level of isolation mental with students of the Faculty of Science at the University of Kirkuk, and to identify the level of isolation mental with students of the Faculty of Science due to sex and class and place of residence, and researcher prepared for this scale purpose-lock mental consisting of (50), paragraph, and in front of all paragraph three alternatives, and study sample consisted of 200 students, of whom 100)) male students and 100 female students were female, chosen by random stratified way, and using samples t-test for one sample and test samples t for two independent samples .
And found the results to be university students are more inclined to lock mental. The results also showed no statistically significant differences in the level of mental isolation due to gender and grade and place of residence .
The researcher came up with a number of recommendations and suggestions .
