Abstract

Tourism is considered a drive for economic development, and it can contribute effectively to solving many of the economic problems facing Kurdistan Region.
The study deals with the development of tourism in Kurdistan Region and its economic consequences, since there has seen a local and global significant growth and flourishing in the field of tourism and tourist movement in the past few years. However, this active movement has had both positive and negative effects and consequences on the region's economy.
The research attempted to achieve its objectives through three sections. The first section was devoted to the definition of tourism development and clarification of its concepts. The second section introduced the reality of tourism development in the region, and the third section studied the economic consequences for tourism development in the region.
The research ends with a set of conclusions, proposals and recommendations that serve the tourist activity and tourist movement in the region.
