Abstract

The question of parsing is one of the issues that occupied the attention of Arab scholars, both ancient and modern. They adopted different approaches in dealing with it. Some of them see the significance of parsing and its effect on meaning. Another group raise doubts concerning this phenomenon, while a third group considers it as simply a decorative phenomenon, among other things.
In this research I will tackle in brief the views of the ancient and modern schools in the movement of parsing as a preliminary step for dealing with the main topic here, i.e., the parsing movement in the thought of Khalil Amayrah. This is followed by a survey of the application of some sections and parts of grammar where parsing movement has a great role in shifting the grammatical meaning from one side to another. Also I discuss the aspects where the parsing movement acts as simply an indispensable movement.
The justification for the present research is the new view towards the parsing movement advocated by Khlail Amayrah.It is a view-in my opinion-that is new, sound and unprecedented. I see it as alternative to the actant theory in Arabic grammar.
