Abstract

This research is entitled ''The Dimension of Language and Thought in Linguistics''. It is an attempt to illustrate and explain the dimensions of the relationship between human language and human thought and their mutual influences, as well as the role of communication in human life when language is used. The research is conducted within a general, descriptive method, and the aspects of the relationship between language and thought are a nalyzed according to this method.
The paper consists of an introduction, two chapters, the conclusions, followed by the list of resources, as well as an abstract in both Arabic and English. The Introduction includes the significance of the research, its scope, and the methodology.
Chapter one consists of: the dimension of language and thought, language dimension, the concept and definition of both language and thought, the dimension of communication and its concept and definition, humans as conversers, and the working of language.
Chapter two covers: theories of language and thought, the relative theory, the structural theory, the biology theory, the communication dimension between language and thought, the influence of language on thought and thought on language, and the relation between humans and language. Finally comes the conclusion, the list of resources and the abstract in both Arabic and English.
