Abstract
The city of Arrapḫa (Kirkuk) is one of the most important cities in the Northeast of Mesopotamia, So it played an effective role in the history of Mesopotamia, where, at the dawn of the Sumerian dynasties, it was the center of a city state known as the Cutium statue, As for the Akkadian period , it was considered one of the important agricultural provinces, In the period of the Ur ш dynasty, King Šulgi was able to submit this region to his rule, As for the old Babylonian period, the Arrapḫa region became a subject of conflict for the neighboring kingdoms, and alliances were being held to control it, However, in the period of the Mitanni domination , it emerged with the cities of northern Mesopotamia and the Levant in the form of a kingdom affiliated to the Kingdom of Ḫanigalbat (Mitanni), Because of the importance of Arrapḫa, the researchers considered that the northern regions of Mesopotamia were subordinate to the Kingdom of Arrapḫa at that time, As for the modern Assyrian period, the importance of the city from the political and military point of view emerged as it was one of the defensive border military bases of Assyria.
