Abstract:
The current research aims to identify:
1. The level of the mental toughness among Kirkuk University students.
2. Determine the statistically significant differences in the level of mental toughness among the students according to the gender variable ( males- females ).
3. Determine the statistically significant differences in the level of mental toughness among the students according to the specialization, ( scientific – literary ).
The researcher selected the research sample using a random method with equal distribution, as the research sample amounted to ( 300 ) male and female students from Kirkuk University for the academic year ( 2023-2024 ) for morning study. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher built a mental toughness scale after reviewing the literature, theories and previous studies, and after extracting the psychometric properties of the scale, the scale in its final form became composed of ( 26 ) paragraphs. The validity and reliability of the scale were verified. Statistical methods were used: ( Pearson correlation coefficient, T-test for one sample and two independent samples ). The research reached the following results: -
1- University students enjoy a high level of mental toughness.
2- There are no statistically significant differences in the level of mental toughness among students according to the gender variable ( males-females ).
3- There are no statistically significant differences in the level of mental toughness among students according to the specialization variable ( scientific-human ).
Finally, the researcher presented a set of recommendations and suggestions.
