Abstract
The research attempts to shed light on an important problem in the relationship between formal logic and two important sciences or topics of philosophy, namely ontology or the topic of existence, and epistemology or the theory of knowledge. It attempts to demonstrate the possibility of logic being characterized by ontology and epistemology, or at least its inseparability from them, in terms of the overlap of the topics of each of these sciences with each other. Therefore, it will attempt to answer the following questions: Can formal logic be characterized as ontological? Can it be characterized as epistemological? And to what extent is logic related to ontology and epistemology?
Due to the difficulty of the research and its hypothesis, the research does not claim that it will provide a comprehensive answer to the question it raised, but rather tries to shed light on the possibility of that hypothesis, and this question remains a subject of research, investigation and scrutiny. The research relies on the analytical and deductive approach to try to reach a relationship or feature of logic that can make formal logic characterized by ontology and epistemology. The study is divided into two sections, the first deals with the definition of logic, ontology and epistemology, while the second deals with the relationship of formal logic with both ontology and epistemology
