Abstract

The research aims to identify the reality and challenges of fish farming in Samarra city and its administrative units - Salah al-Din Governorate during the year 2021-2022. The research provided a theoretical overview of fish farming, and in order to be accurate in finding solutions to the research problem, the problem was formulated with a main question "What is the reality and challenges of fish farming farms in the study area?" The descriptive analytical approach was used in order to reach the results, and the questionnaire form was used as a main tool in collecting data and information related to the field aspect. For this purpose, a sample of (28) land-based fish farms was used, constituting 30% of the total number of licensed farms in the study area, which numbered (95) farms, which were established in the Tigris River and Tharthar Basin. The research came out with a set of conclusions, the most important of which are:
1. Despite the problems and challenges facing farmers, fish farms are still economically feasible and attractive for those wishing to invest in the region.
2. The main challenges of fish farming in the region were The study is high and varied according to its importance, and the financial and administrative obstacles came in first place, followed by the technical obstacles in second place, then the marketing obstacles in third place, and the advisory obstacles came in fourth place and finally the production obstacles
