Abstract

This study investigated part of the book "Uyun al-Akhbar wa Nuzhat al-Absar" by Muhammad ibn Abi al-Surur al-Bakri, which included the period of the restoration of the position of the Abbasid Caliphate in Egypt by the Mamluk Sultan al-Zahir Baybars. The study also included glimpses of the autobiography and scientific biography of the author Ibn Abi al-Surur, and the enormous scientific and historical wealth of this scholar. The scientific study stood on the extent of the influence of his father and cousins on his upbringing in terms of the scientific and religious aspect, as he accompanied his father since childhood in the Kuttabs and circles of knowledge, so he memorized the Holy Quran and the books of the biography of the Prophet. The study also focused on his scientific status among the notables of his time, scholars, writers and sheikhs, at whose hands he studied and from whom he drank various sciences. This influence had a clear impact on his scientific output, in addition to his contact with a large number of scholars, writers and ascetics of his time who enriched his scientific wealth with a lot of historical information. We were also able to reach this wealth full of science and knowledge represented by his published and unpublished works. We learned about the manuscript in terms of its importance The historical which conveyed many events that occurred in eras more advanced than the era of the author, and his resources from which he drew information.
