Abstract

The research deals with the position of the Iraqi Communist Party on the Kurdish issue in Iraq, as it was the first Iraqi political movement to recognize the existence of a Kurdish issue in Iraq and adopted the proposal of solutions to find the best solution for it from its point of view. Since the founding of the party, the Kurdish issue has been an obsession for the leaders and cadres of the party that must be solved, so its positions developed from the right to self-determination and then to the autonomy of the Kurdish people within the framework of the Kingdom of Iraq and the Republic of Iraq later. To granting the Kurds self-rule, and the party wanted to attract the Kurds to its side by using the media, so it was also the first Iraqi party to issue a newspaper in the Kurdish language to express the party's point of view on the Kurdish issue and win Kurdish youth to its ranks, and it succeeded in that to some extent, then the party's position developed later, especially after the revolution of July 14, 1958, so it tried to hold the stick from the middle, especially after the revolution of September 11, 1961, to avoid angering the government of Abdul Karim Qasim and was satisfied with calling for a halt to the bombing of Kurdish villages and demanded that the Kurdish leadership follow the proper means to solve the Kurdish issue.
