Abstract

The research objective was to identify the effect of the letter box strategy, designed in accordance with active learning, on developing the reading skills of second-grade primary school students.
To achieve the research objective, the researcher adopted a partially controlled experimental design for the experimental and control groups, using a pre-test and post-test. A single hypothesis was developed and subjected to experimentation. The research sample consisted of (50) female students, randomly distributed into two groups: the experimental group, consisting of (30) female students, who studied using the letter box strategy at Al-Nasr Elementary School, and the control group, consisting of (20) female students, who studied using the traditional method at Al-Qanadeel Elementary School in Kirkuk Governorate for the academic year (2024-2025). The researcher rewarded the two research groups for variables that might affect the research results. To achieve the research objective, a research tool was required: The researcher prepared a reading skills test consisting of (8) questions, each measuring a reading skill in the Arabic language. Each part consisted of one or more sub-questions. The test's score reached (30). The researcher verified its validity and reliability.
