Abstract
This research is part of the requirements for a doctoral dissertation, titled “New Historicism Criticism and Its Application in Miran Abraham's Novel Nishtmani sara” attempts to answer the following questions: What is modern criticism? What is the difference between traditional criticism and modern criticism? Then, what is the relationship between literature and history from the perspective of modern criticism? Can modern criticism be applied to contemporary Kurdish literature?
This study appears to be a Kurdish academic work that discusses some traditional critical issues and then re-examines them from a new modern perspective. We can say that this topic has not been adequately addressed in Kurdish literature. In our methodology, we relied on the descriptive-analytical-historical approach to conduct this type of study. We have concluded that modern criticism is a branch of cultural reading and cultural criticism, and it utilizes cognitive resources in reading and interpreting literary texts, Because New Historicism believes in the mutual influence of literature and history on each other
