ABSTRACT
Independence of East Timur and the future of National Unity of Indonesia


The paper sheds light on the history of Indonesia and its Independence of Portugal occupation , and its recapturing of western Aryana island in 1963 with the aid of some Western countries .

The paper also tackles Indonesia uniting of East Timur island in 1975 , benefiting from the United State of America's backing economically and politically , as Indonesia was part of American community in the face communism .

The paper then shows how this backing turned in to a political and economic press are exercised by the United State of America on Indonesia to oblige her to withdraw from the same island after less than a quarter of a century after Indonesia has lost its strategic importance after Cold War ended , and the disconnection of the prior Soviet Union in 1990 .

This pressure led to the compliance of Indonesia to Western Will, and its acceptance to carryout referendum to decide the future of this island . The outcome of this referendum was the Independence of East Timur . when this island got its Independence , it did not have the constituents of astate , thus it turned in to abad example encouraging other territories to call for their Independence too ; This led to threatening the unity of a biggest Islamic state .
