Abstract
The current paper tackles the Infinitive "zain" in Kurdish language because of the big role this subject plays in this language, in addition to the rarity of it in different studies. Hence, it needs a detailed and precise research.
The root / za- / plays a great role in the construction of Kurdish words, especially in derived and compound words. The paper has arrived at a series of conclusions, the most significant of which is disambiguating the root of this morpheme with the morpheme root (/ zaneen / za).
In addition, the study sheds light an a number of words regarding their construction.
The study also states that the root of the morpheme
( zain ) is only / za- / , and the morpheme root / zain /takes both morphemes / a / , / j / to show past and future time .
Finally, the research arrived at some new conclusions of great value for other future studies.
It is worth mentioning that the data collected are from the southern Kirmanji dialect .
