The researchers have noticed through their work at the fields of Psychological Counseling and educational guiding in secondary school, that Adults are the most affected by every new and modern. In order to Prepare generations that own the bases of modernity And accord with the traditions of our Arab societies and accord working in educational institutions must cope up with these changes but at the same time emphasize the morals of originality one of those Working in this field is the educational counselor who is the person responsible for the pupils affairs and aids. He must also be able to transmit their society from the state of stagnation to the state of modern societies characterized by change and modernization. This requires that the educational counselor must acquire the features of the modern personality because "one who does not have a particular merit can not show it".
In addition the educational counselor must cope up with these developments and believe in them, this will lead to increasing of creativity chances which will be reflected on the conduct of individuals and the whole society.
The current study is a scientific attempt to discover the directions of modernity for educational counselors in order to enhance and improve their role in leading the way to change, modernity and dive coping society. The value of the study is also showy in helping a scientific Iraqi device to study the directions of modernity for counselors men and women since this device is unavailable for the time being to the best of the researchers knowledge . this study also help educational counselors in the field of guidance to ensure whether they have the modern character.
The object of this work is to identify the following:
1- The level of Modernity Attitudes of Educational counselors.
2- The level of Modernity Attitudes of Educational counselors according to gender.
3- The level of Modernity Attitudes of Educational counselors according to vocational rehabilitation ( Counseling, Psychology, sociology ).
To achieve the goals of the current study, the criterion of modernity attitude for educational counselors had been used. After finding the psychometrical properties for the criterion as, a sample (65) counselors has been tested chosen randomly out of the whole group of counselors (102) who work in secondary and intermediate schools in the General Directorate of Education in Kirkuk.
After processing the data concisely using the (t-test, on sample and two samples, the person factor device and the variance analyzing device).
The study comes up with the following conclusion:
1- The rate of modernity Attitudes for Educational counselors is good and fair.
2- Male Educational counselors do not differ from female educational counselors with regard to Modernity Attitudes.
3- There are no essential differences between male and female Educational counselors according to the variant of vocational rehabilitation ( Counseling, Psychology, sociology ).
In the light of the above conclusions, the researcher propose several recommendations and future studies.
