Abstract
This paper is based on the study of one of the war novels in modern Iraqi literature which is " The shores of Blood and salt " by Ibrahim Hasan Nasser . It includes an analysis and criticism of the novel . It starts with the introduction as a prelude to the topic where we have three section .
The first section includes narration and its types : self-narration and objective narration as well as its sub types : summary , pausing , scene and abstract. The means of narration : the dialogue and description are also included .The second section deals with characters : the protagonist and primary ad secondary characters and how to design the character .
Finally , the third section includes the place in which the events take place as well as the functions of setting and its types .It is divided into habitual and repeated , this way , we moved in these elements to understand them .
