Abstract

ABSTRACT

Omar bin Abi Rabi'a as a poet occupies an outstanding place in the development of the Arabic qasida (poem) , especially the structure of the poem though he devoted all his poetry to the theme of love and his diwan (complete poems) is the piggest one devoted to love in the heritage of Arabic poetry. His poems were in contrast with the environment in which he lived as they were a reflection of his playful life with women without any restriction due to the social , political and literary rank he enjoyed as a highly celebrated poet.

Omar bin Abi Rabi'a was highly interested in love poetry and this interest was reflected in his prolific writings which shows his poetic talent that he is often associated with innovation and creativity, especially his use of narration and drama in his poems to develop his art coping with his rebellious soul that longs for creativity.

Conflict is very evident in his poetry through his use of both the internal and external monologue and poetic narration. This paper, therefore, tries to expiore the dramatic conflict in his poetry by examining these two elements in his poems and explore the aesthetic values and their role in expanding the circle of his reception .
