Abstract

Time is an axial element in the novel whose events have taken place within few days that can be easily counted, yet the character of Saeed Mahran lives in an opposite time when he goes out of the prison that he has entered because of the reporting of his unfaithful wife who betrays him with his friend and by the technique of anticipation and recovery, the time of the novel expands horizontally and makes the character return backwards or go forwards in an attempt to anticipate the real time in order to live in a future state that he has not lived yet.
Saeed Mahran tries to turn against his reality and the aristocratic classes of the society with a group of students led by Ra'uf Alwan, yet Saeed Mahran collides with the hard reality when his wife betrays him with his friend. They send him to the prison and after his release, he finds that Ra'uf Alwan has become an aristocrat denying all the principles and values. So, Saeed Mahran decides to get revenge turning his efforts against treason and traitors (the wife- the friend- and the example ''Ra'uf Alwan'') till he is killed by the police eventually.
